Pathway: First, what motivated you to pursue English studies?
Andreea: I started studying English in school but was determined to become fluent in a foreign language before finishing high school. This motivated me to go beyond the regular curriculum and learn English more extensively. I was excited about the benefits of communicating with people from different countries, having more educational opportunities, and broadening my career options.
Pathway: What inspired you to pursue the C2 (academic) level?
Andreea: I first aimed to reach a C1 level in English to enhance my life prospects. However, my enthusiasm for the language grew as I delved deeper into it, prompting me to extend my studies and pursue an academic level.
Pathway: Please share how the course you completed has affected your life and discuss the essential elements of it.
Andreea: I enjoyed the topics covered in this course. Its emphasis on practical scenarios like job interviews and current global issues makes it unique. The knowledge I've acquired has boosted my confidence in conversing about general topics and even engaging with native speakers in countries where English is the primary language.
Pathway: Do you think your colleagues were equally skilled and motivated to succeed?
Andreea: During my academic journey, my teacher always teamed me up with classmates who pushed me to improve. I had confidence in my ability to succeed and was carefully selected by study partners with similar abilities. This led to a stimulating and inspiring environment that helped me achieve my goals.
Pathway: Do you have any helpful tips or advice for fellow students also enrolled with us?|
Andreea: Improving your English skills requires more than just completing regular coursework and homework. You must take proactive steps, such as reading online articles or books, listening to podcasts or talks, and conversing with English-speaking individuals, including your family or colleagues. These activities must become a regular part of your daily routine to ensure a steady improvement in your language abilities.
Pathway: Would you like to share a humorous story?
Andreea: As I neared the end of my studies, I received advice to read English literature and provide summaries after every few chapters. When I inquired about specific genre restrictions, I was told that any genre was acceptable except for short children's stories such as Cinderella. Ironically, I had already begun reading a retelling of Cinderella.
Pathway: What are your plans after graduation?
Andreea: I am considering learning another international language and teaching English to young beginners. Additionally, I am considering attending a law school abroad that provides English-based instruction after graduating from high school.
